On Sunday, March 11th, A-RU Japanese Restaurant in Buellton will host a dinner to raise funds to support services that Santa Ynez Valley People Helping People (PHP) furnishes to vineyard and farm workers.

This annual dinner which has quickly sold out each of the past three years is a six course gourmet dinner designed by Chef Jina Bae for the true connoisseur of Asian cuisine.  Each course is specifically prepared to be paired with a wine specially selected from People Helping People’s Vino de Sueños collection.  The Vino de Sueños wines are produced and donated by local premium wineries, specially labeled with reproductions of donated original art works, and sold by PHP to raise funds for services to vineyard and farm workers.

The Vino de Suenos wines to be showcased at A-RU this year were first released this past November at PHP’s 4th annual Vino de Sueños Wine Release Celebration.  Most of these wines sold out at the release but select wines were reserved for the wine dinner.

The March 11 dinner at A-RU will feature 2009, Alma Rosa, Pinot Gris; 2009, Quail Crossing, Pinot Grigio; Rideau, 2007 Chateau Duplantier Rhone Blend; 2010, Kalyra, Viognier Dessert Wine;  2009, Fontes & Phillips, Chardonnay; and 2010, Qupé, Marsanne .

According to PHP’s Vino de Sueños Committee Chair, Becky Barieau, tickets for the A-RU dinner are expected to sell out quickly again this year.  “Each year, Chef Bae creates a new menu with the dishes http://www.phpaide.com/?langue=fr&id=5 specifically designed to be paired with our wines,” said Barieau.  “This is no easy task to accomplish but Jina is truly a master at bringing out the best in both the wine and food,” she added.

Chef Bae said that she welcomes the challenge presented by pairing the sometimes strong and sometimes subtle tastes of Asian food with great wines.  “Pairing these foods with both red and white wines is not an easy task,” she said.  “However, we work with winemakers to test pairings and the results have been appreciated by our guests, including some exceptionally well-known vintners, who keep returning for the event.”

The A-RU dinner will begin at 5 P.M. on March 11th and tickets are $125 per person all inclusive of food, wine, tax and tip.  For reservations for the A-RU wine dinner, please call Jordan at 686-0295 or go to www.syvphp.org/events to reserve and purchase tickets for the dinner.  Payments for reservations must be made by March 5, 2012 in order to retain reservations. Seating is limited to 50 guests.
