Mike Hendrick, General Manager of the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott Hotel, has announced that the Marriott will once again sponsor a fundraising golf tournament in 2014. The purpose is to raise funds to support the provision of health care to children in the Santa Ynez and Los Alamos Valleys whose families cannot afford to pay for such care.
The 2nd Annual Miracles Happen Tournament will be held at the Alisal River course on Friday, September 19th. Tournament sign-in begins at 10:30 AM with tee-off at 12 Noon.
Mike Hendrick said that, “Marriott hotels have had a long tradition of supporting the needs of the communities they live and work in. All over the world Marriott associates are working together to help children receive the medical attention they require.”
According to Hendrick, The Miracle’s Happen Tournament sold out last year and as a result, donated $12,000 to support children’s health care services. This year the Marriott has set a donation goal of $15,000. Hendrick added that, “(W)e are reaching out to the community that has supported us over the last 28 years in hopes that they will now help us to give to this worthy cause.”
The Marriott has chosen the non-profit Santa Ynez Valley People Helping People (PHP) to be the beneficiary of the golf tournament. PHP was chosen as the primary local charity that assists children and their families of limited financial resources obtain needed medical, dental, and counseling services for free or at low cost. Last year PHP furnished health care services locally valued at $248,000 including donated care.
Individual tournament fees are $125 per person and $400 for a foursome. Tee sponsorships are available for $250. Additional sponsorship opportunities and registration forms are available by calling Mike Hendrick at 805-325-2020 or emailing mhendrick@syvmarriott.com.
Tournament fees include 18 holes of golf, BBQ dinner, at least one “win a new car hole in one,” and raffle prizes. Players will also be able to enter longest drive, closest to the pin, and putting contests as well as a ball drop with up to $1,000 in cash prizes.
“On Friday, September 19th 2014, I’m asking for your support as an individual or as a company to help the SYV Marriott in making a sizable contribution to People Helping People,” said Hendrick. “ If we all give a little the reward will be great.”
