June 11 – Lake Tahoe fine artist Reds Regan will be performing a live painting production and exhibiting his Primitive Contemporary artwork at the Hidden Gems of California Tasting and auction event to benefit People Helping People children’s programs in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Reds performs live painting productions at wineries throughout northern California and the Hidden Gems event is his first appearance in the Santa Ynez area.  Reds’ live painting production will begin with a blank canvas and will conclude when the finished painting is auctioned off at the event.

“I’m proud to donate my artwork to support the unmet needs of children,” Reds said. The Tahoe artist will also donate 60 percent of proceeds of original art sales from his mobile gallery of primitive contemporary art, which will also be displayed at the event in support of the People Helping People cause.

Reds has an internationally recognized ambidextrous painting style called Primitive Contemporary. The style is reminiscent of prehistoric cave dwellings, according to Reds.

“My work is a bridge between the ancient painted story telling expressed 30,000 years ago in cave dwellings and the creativity of modern fine art.  My paintings reflect the simplest elements of an image – line, color, and form,” he said.

Reds’ art exhibition is designed to enhance the cultural experience of the Hidden Gems event and assist in fundraising for programs that benefit at-risk children.  People Helping People support children in school by ensuring that they are healthy and ready to learn and have academic and social support in the home and at school. Services include medical and dental care, after school teen programs, drug and personal counseling, and family basic needs assistance for food, shelter, and utilities.

Reds at Hidden Gems

Reds entertains wine tasters with his live painting performances at events like Hidden Gems. “Art and wine are simpatico and both enrich our minds and bodies,” Reds stated. “By starting the event with a blank canvas and finishing with a bold yet poetically simplistic painting, those who have no experience with the arts are empowered by seeing the creative process unfold right before their eyes,” Reds continued.

“People come up to view my artwork and we ask them to choose a color out of my color palette,” Reds said. “I’ve even had children painting on my canvas so the entire process is randomly spontaneous and reflects the gestalt of the event’s energy which in turn supports a worthy cause by having event participants involved in the donated painting.”

Background on Reds Fine Art

Reds has been a professional artist for 25 years and he currently performs painting productions at wineries and special events throughout the California wine country. The intensity of his paintings is rooted in his Irish heritage. He studied Celtic and other primitive art forms while developing his own unique Primitive Contemporary style. His unique composition and energetic expression create a boldly relaxed style. Reds’ work has been associated with Salvador Dali, Joan Miro and Picasso.

Reds’ live painting productions at California wineries add a cultural and creative flair to wine tasting and fundraising events. “Imagine the kind of bohemian scene like Toulouse Lautrec painting in the streets of Paris,” Reds said. “We’re trying to create a certain energy for people while they’re wine tasting,” Reds stated.

His large acrylic canvases, which run as large as 10 feet tall, stand apart from any other artwork in the world. Reds has shown his work in galleries and various venues in Key West, San Francisco, Boston, and the International Art Expo in New York. He enjoys a following of diverse and eclectic collectors from around the world including the United States, Italy, Ireland, Japan and Russia.
